GRADE 8

Introduction

Grade 8 is unsurprisingly a culmination of all the learning a dancer has done throughout their Rambert grades experience.

The individual will have gained a strong understanding of contemporary dance and have the confidence to show this through their ownership of the work.

Opening of Class

The Opening of class is an important element of each Grade. It prepares the students for each session, allowing them to leave what has happened outside of the studio behind and focus on their body and being in the present moment. It can also help to create a safe and secure environment within the studio setting.

The Opening of class can begin in anyway a teacher see’s fit, it does not need to take on a specific form. It could be as simple as asking students to close their eyes and set an intention for the session or simply encouraging stillness and silence for a short period before beginning.
